Project: Active Record Listening - 01a of 26: 7" Records and a Broken Needle

2020/01/26: The start of this project got off to a rocky start as the first record sounded like garbage! There was a lot of hissing, popping and eventually silence as the needle broke! After a few days for delivery and installation, the project was back on. Time to break out the 45s, Singles and 7"s!

Bouncing Souls - Johnny X
(7" Black Vinyl - 45 RPM; Chucksau Records)

Track Listing:
Side A: The Ballad of Johnny X
Side B: Here We Go, Headlights Ditch

The quality may be compromised by the sound system, new needle or dust on the record but the energetic songs and upbeat delivery brightened the day. It reminded me of what drew me to independent records and punk rock; this was one of the first 7" records I bought, yet still had not played it more than a few times.

The Eyeliners - Rock and Roll, Baby!
(7" Black Vinyl - 45 RPM; Sympathy For The Records Industry)

Track Listing:
Side A: Rock and Roll, Baby!
Side B: Bad Attitude

Great band! Straight ahead 3-piece rock and roll with simple song structures and catchy lyrics. The sweet vocals to lure you in and playful attitude to slap you in the face. They were amazing and sexy playing live, the record was a good replication of their energy and delivery. (I've been on a female led rock/metal/punk band kick of late, so my opinion may be in conflict).

Side Note: I forgot to switch the speed on the record player and it sounded slightly different at 33 RPM. It was a much slower tempo and sounded like a male singer... not as high energy or nearly as fun.
